Provision Panel and Specialist Provision
In Hertfordshire there are levels of support for children and young people in education, according to their needs. The levels start with support in mainstream education and go up through a range of specialist provisions. This ladder of support is known as the Graduated response.
Most children with SEND will be supported to thrive within a mainstream school, including those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). For those children who need extra support, there are a number of special schools and schools with special bases or units in Hertfordshire that educate children who have an EHCP.
If families wish their child to be considered for a place in a special school, a request should be made to the statutory SEN team as part of an Annual Review. Schools and settings should use the information and documents below to prepare for provision panel, particularly those listed on the checklist.
