DSPL7 SEND Family Support worker

CLARE TOMINEY-SMITH

 

Clare supports families who have a child or young person with SEND aged 4-16 who may be displaying challenging behaviour at home.   Clare has an extensive knowledge of Special Educational Needs and her role is to provide practical advice, guidance and emotional support to families, advising them on parenting and behaviour strategies. Clare has received training in Trauma and Attachment, Anxiety, ADHD, ASD, Protective behaviours, the Teen Brain and Resilience.  She has previously worked in education settings across the Early Years and school age-ranges.

Family Support:

  • Clare provides a short term, early intervention for up to 6 sessions. 
  • She meets parents every two weeks either at home, in the community, or virtually/by phone.

Referral Criteria:

  • DSPL7 accepts referrals from school SENCos and other professionals
  • The child or young person should be aged between 4-16 and attend a mainstream school in the DSPL7 area.
  • The child or young person must have identified special educational needs.  They may have a diagnosis of ASD or ADHD, or be on the pathway to assessment.
  • All referrals will be triaged to ensure they meet the referral criteria, and may be declined if the child or young person has needs that are beyond early intervention.
  • School SENCos and other professionals are able to refer families for support by completing the referral form below and emailing it to referrals@dspl7.org.uk
