What is VSEND?
- VSEND is the local authority's preferred approach for schools to use when identifying the level of need for children and young people.
- It's aim is to standardise the approach used in schools across the County and establish a common language.
- It provides a rounded picture of children’s needs and the support they require to succeed.
- It can support settings to identify gaps and areas for further development
- It provides key information for referrals to Specialist Services, requests for EHC Needs Assessments, Focussed Intervention Funding (FIF) and decision-making panels linked to requests for changes of placement.
How do I access VSEND?
- Schools attend training
- Following training, Schools are given one login/setting. An authenticator app is also needed. If your login details need to be reset, contact vsend@hertfordshire.gov.uk with details of the setting name, email address and user name
- You can login directly to VSEND through a link on The Grid
- Schools complete their 'Setting Readiness', which should be done at least annually
- A Home Confidence rating can also be completed with a family to give a holistic picture
- Individual pupil profiles can then be set up and a Pupil Radar produced.
- Pupil Radars can be used to support EHCNA requests, FIF applications, Annual Reviews and Provision Panel decisions.
